I would love to be one of those people that wakes up early, has quite time to myself, and have breakfast ready for my family. But, I just am not! I am a night person in and out and when I get up early I am usually in a sleepy state until I have had several cups of coffee.

For a long time, I always thought if I was a morning person, I would be more productive, get more done and have more me time.  It took me awhile to accept this is just how God created me. As a matter of fact, I am more creative at night and less distracted, so I am able to get a lot of things crossed off my to-do list in the evening (hence,  why you might get evening emails from me), and have more “me time”.

So, regardless of what kind of person you are – morning riser or night owl – here are some tips that I learned throughout the years to help me greet the day with joy.

– First thing when waking up, take a minute to focus on God and give thanks! For me, it is an instant refresh and helps me realize that life is not as bad.

– Listen to something inspiring. It can be something as simple as the giggles of your children, a song, or a inspiring message (I encourage you to save inspirational teaching in your playlist).  It always makes my day to hear my little toddler’s giggles coming from the other room.

– Third, learn to let go. Remind yourself that there are things that can only be handle by God. Knowing that God has it all, and I am just simply doing His work, takes the stress and anxiety off my shoulders. It allows me to take on the day with a happy heart.

– Lastly, don’t forget your coffee. For me, three cups of coffee is all I need that day to conquer! 😉

I hope these tips help you to successfully start your day! Be blessed and choose joy!
