Valentine’s Day is coming up, and perhaps you are still looking for some ideas to express your love to your significant other. Well, today we are going to help you make Valentine’s special by creating very simple, very cute DIY Valentine’s cards. They are fun, quick, and easy – you don’t have to be a craft guru to make them beautiful and special! (If you have kids, this can also be a great project to do with them!)
We have created two different styles of cards for you to choose from (you can make both designs if your crafty side is really in high gear). Good luck on your project!
We will start with the easier of the two cards. For this glittery Valentine’s card, you will need:
- A pack of 5.5″ x 4.25″ white blank cards
- Red glitter
- A fine ball-point glue stick
- Red or white A2 envelopes
**You can find these materials at any craft store. I found what I needed at Michaels.
Directions: Pour some glitter on a paper towel or paper plate. With the fine ball-point glue stick, draw hearts (or any designs you want), and pour the glitter onto the wet glue. Wait a few minutes until the glue sets and then get rid of the excess glitter. Voilà! Your Valentine’s card is ready! Here are some step-by-step pictures of me making these cards.

Hopefully, your crafty side is now in full swing and you are ready to keep creating! The next Valentine’s cards are perfect for writing a bunch of short, cute messages and then hiding them in random places around the house where you know your significant other will find them. You’ll see what I mean…
For these Valentine’s mini-cards, you will need:
- Pearlescent 8.5″ x 11″ baby pink cover weight cardstock paper (I used Cover-90lb)
- Pearlescent 8.5″ x 11″ dark pink text weight paper stock (this will be used for the hearts)
- Metallic ink pen (I used 1.0 mm ball medium – gold ink)
- A fine ball-point glue stick
- Red or pink A2 5.5″ x 4.25″ envelopes
- 3 1/8″ mini translucent frosted square envelopes
**Just in case you need it, here is a link to help you understand the difference between cover weight paper and text weight: http://faq.cardsandpockets.com/index.php?action=artikel&cat=12&id=38&artlang=en
Directions:
Take the dark pink 8.5″ x 11″ paper stock and cut into four pieces. Take each piece and fold it in half. Trace half of a heart onto the folded piece (with the tracing line starting and ending on the fold) and cut it out. Unfold the heart and trim the edges until it fits nicely inside the small translucent envelope (see below).

Take the light pink 8.5″ x 11″ paper stock and cut into four pieces. Using the ball-point glue stick, make an “X” on the back of each translucent envelope (from corner to corner) and mount them (centered horizontally) onto each of the light pink paper stock pieces slightly above center (see below).

Using the metallic pen, write your personal messages on the dark pink hearts and the bottoms of the light pink cards. Place the hearts into the translucent envelopes, and place each finished card into an envelope to be hidden in the locations of your choice. Then let the romantic treasure hunt begin 🙂
