Enjoy the Little Things

I have noticed  that when I think about beautiful moments in my life, they are usually things that I didn’t consider a big deal at the time. Now, I wish I could have them back in my life! For example, when I was a child, my Italian grandparents used to make pizza from scratch, and as a kid, I didn’t like it because it was not the way I wanted my pizza to be. (I know what you are thinking…but don’t judge me! I was a just a kid!). Now I realize how amazing that was and wish I could have them here with me to make me their special pizza recipe.

I think that sometimes we expect our lives to be more like a movie: always chasing the things that we think are going to make us happy, or wanting dramatic and epic moments that somehow brings us fulfillment. But the truth is that those moments are few and far between, and the majority of life is made up of small moments: day-to-day routines, interactions with close friends and loved ones, coffee with a spouse, late-night conversations, and Saturday morning breakfasts made by Mom. It is the combinations of these things that really brings the joy, comfort, and peace that is long-lasting!

So today, I encourage you to stop for a second, look around, and think of all the “little” things that are really true blessings! Maybe the job you have, the home you live in, the best friend that is always there for you, etc! Don’t wait until it’s too late to realize the good things you have. Instead, be grateful and give thanks in all circumstances, and you’ll find a deep sense of joy in all the little things!

I know I have to constantly remind myself to enjoy the little things in life! 🙂
