Follow Your Arrow! Be visionary, stay focused, and live with purpose!
Many of us take life as it comes, focusing on the current circumstances, the here-and-now, so preoccupied with getting through the day that we forget to think in the long term. While I think it is good to just take one day at a time and embrace the present, I strongly believe that we must stop for a moment and really think about where we are heading in life. I believe that deeply thinking about our future and broadening our vision leads to living a more fulfilled life.
The Bible mentions in Proverbs 29:18 that, “where there is no vision, the people perish…”
Most people do not achieve their dreams because they don’t know what they want. They have not taken the time to define their dream in clear and compelling detail.
In the book 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Steven R. Covey mentions that one of the main habits of a successful person is to “begin with the end in mind,” envisioning what you want in the future so you can work and plan towards it. When you have a goal and are aiming at something bigger than yourself, it will change the friendships you make, the habits you form, and the way you respond to challenges. Everything changes when you have a target that you are aiming at. So, I encourage you to take time to envision what you want to achieve and make a concrete, written plan. If you already have a goal but feel like you are losing steam, I want to encourage you to look up and think long-term. Envision the outcome! Remember, an arrow can only be shot forward by pulling backwards with lots of tension. From now on, when you feel like life is dragging you back with difficulties, stay focused and keep aiming at your dreams. The tension means that you are preparing to launch into something great.
Don’t forget living with purpose always leads to joy!
