Last week we started a series on the various printing methods we have available. On our first post, we gave a quick overview on the process of letterpress (click HERE for more), and today we will be talking about another beautiful specialty printing method – foil stamping!

Foil stamping is a printing process that uses heat, pressure, and metallic paper (foil) to create many different and beautiful shiny designs. Foil printing looks absolutely beautiful, giving your invitation suite a stunning and unique appeal, and it comes in a wide variety of colors and finishes. Just like letterpress, foil is applied to the paper with pressure (the impression is not as deep as letterpress printing) and metal dies are created for each individual color. The dies are heated and stamped onto the paper leaving a thin layer of foil on the paper, and each color is applied individually to create the final design. Foil is an opaque medium, which makes it ideal for darker or colored papers.

Here are some more beautiful invites printed in foil.
